A Disciple Like his Teacher; Exhortation to Fearless Confession †

Matthew 10:24-25

Luke 6:40 (cf. Jn. 13:16; 15:20)

24 A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a slave above the master; 25 it is enough for the disciple to be like the teacher, and the slave like the master.

If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household!

Lk. 6:40 A disciple is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully qualified will be like the teacher.

Jn. 13:16 Very truly, I tell you, servants are not greater than their master, nor are messengers greater than the one who sent them.

Jn. 15:20 Remember the word that I said to you, 'Servants are not greater than their master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

Matthew 10:26-31

Luke 12:2-7

26 "So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret that will not become known.

27 What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim from the housetops.

28 Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul;

rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 And even the hairs of your head are all counted. 31 So do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows.

2 Nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret that will not become known.

3 Therefore whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed from the housetops. 4 "I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that can do nothing more. 5 But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him! 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God's sight. 7 But even the hairs of your head are all counted. Do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Matthew 10:32-33

Luke 12:8-9

32 "Everyone therefore who acknowledges me before others, I also will acknowledge before my Father in heaven; 33 but whoever denies me before others, I also will deny before my Father in heaven.

8 "And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God; 9 but whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God.

Mark 4:22 For there is nothing hidden, except to be disclosed; nor is anything secret, except to come to light.

Mark 8:38 Those who are ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of them the Son of Man will also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Luke 8:17 For nothing is hidden that will not be disclosed, nor is anything secret that will not become known and come to light.

Luke 9:26 Those who are ashamed of me and of my words, of them the Son of Man will be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels
